Mataram, April 28, 2025 – The work meeting at IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, held virtually via Zoom and hosted at the Rectorate Building’s third-floor hall, featured an important address by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Phil.H Kamaruddin Amin, M.A. The session was moderated by the Rector of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Wirata, A.Ma., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd., ensuring a structured and insightful discussion for attendees.

During his speech, Prof. Kamaruddin Amin emphasized the critical role of higher education institutions in fostering academic and societal cohesion. He stressed that universities are not merely centers for knowledge dissemination but play an essential part in maintaining harmony within both the academic world and the broader community. He encouraged higher education institutions to take an active role in shaping religious life rather than becoming detached from it, noting that universities should not be isolated from societal realities. Instead, they must emerge as hubs of intellectual discourse that offer solutions to social, cultural, and religious challenges.

Prof. Kamaruddin Amin acknowledged that students often encounter complex issues related to their education, beliefs, and interactions with the wider world. He argued that universities must develop frameworks that empower students to navigate these challenges effectively while simultaneously contributing to broader societal welfare. Moreover, he underscored the importance of universities positioning themselves as thought leaders in addressing contemporary problems, not only for their students but also for the communities they serve.

Another key theme of his presentation was the necessity for higher education institutions to adopt strategic and technical measures that focus on global recognition. He pointed out that in today’s interconnected academic landscape, institutions must align their goals and practices with international standards to ensure their credibility and influence extend beyond national borders. Universities must integrate forward-thinking approaches that enhance academic excellence and visibility while also remaining deeply rooted in cultural and religious values.

The work meeting provided a valuable opportunity for institutional leaders and academic professionals to reflect on these priorities and consider actionable strategies that align with the broader goals outlined by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The discourse reaffirmed the commitment of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram to strengthening its role as an institution that bridges the academic and social spheres, contributing both locally and globally.

This event underscores the ongoing efforts to advance the quality of higher education in Indonesia while reinforcing the importance of universities as catalysts for meaningful societal change. By DKS (Tim Humas dan Protokol)
